I Am the Storm and the Dawn: A Rune Reading on Ancestry, Purpose and Power

Hello Reader,

It's been a little while since I reached out. That is kind of my style. I only like to reach out to you when I feel I have something to genuinely offer. If you know me at all, you know I have a raw authenticity. A somewhat untamed, unapologetic approach to coaching and healing.

That being said, I want to be in touch with you more often. As you read this, know that whilst there are many readers, there is just you and I right now. If this speaks to you, it is because we have connected.

Bringing Spirituality into Coaching

So, to the point of this blog. My approach to coaching and helping people has always been to bring in a spiritual element. It is what connects me to my divine truth and I believe it does the same for others. Recently, I have been using my Runes and a little Tarot to help with business and marketing strategy as well as personal growth.

I wanted to see how I can best manifest in order to bring spirituality to my coaching in a way that is successful. So I asked the Runes and used a 9 Norse Realm spread (one rune for each realm). The main point of the reading was that I needed to look to my ancestry for my power of Uruz (primal energy). When Uruz appears, it is telling you to key into your wild and untamed energy, almost like a true nature. I wanted more clarity. So, I asked a fresh question and cast a new spread. This time I asked how to connect Uruz with my Ancestry. And this is the full reading I wanted to share with you.

My Ancestral Rune Spread

The spread I did was:

  • The Root – my ancestral legacy

  • The Blood – my primal power

  • The Wound – what blocks or distorts Uruz

  • The Offering – how to honour my ancestors

  • The Becoming – what form my primal self takes when fully expressed

I chose this to depict a tree, with roots, the blood in the trunk, the wound to be a fallen branch to the side, the offering to be fruit the tree bears, and the becoming to be the sky above.

Deep Interpretation of the Runes

This was a wonderfully profound casting. Before even having to delve too deep, I realised that the runes had captured a fairly sizable blockage for me in Ansuz. The runes identified that what works in my shadow is doubt and a feeling of being unheard. Ansuz is the rune of the great Allfather, Odin himself. Odin breathed life into all. This rune’s appearance often refers to communication or the breath. But essentially, it is your ability to speak your truth and bring it into existence.

The runes never fail to bring absolute clarity no matter how deep they cut.

🌱 The Root – Dagaz

The Root was showing what ancestral legacy is coming through. This is an insight into what the ancestral message is that I am trying to key into. Dagaz shows transformation through illumination. It is the new dawn, the breakthrough. It shows my ancestors were threshold-crossers, seers of new ways. Not a chaotic upheaval though; it's a gentle but unstoppable force of light after darkness. My ancestors brought hope after loss, clarity after confusion. I carry the legacy not in the fight, but in the rising.

🔥 The Blood – Gebo

The Blood is the real essence of the primal power I am being told to embody. Gebo is one of love, gifting, and reciprocity. My Uruz energy isn't brute force — it's the magnetic power of presence, of sacred exchange. I hold space, give with intention, and others are changed by receiving. Gebo says my body is a gift, my voice is a gift, my service is a gift — and power flows when I honour those as sacred.

🌀 The Wound – Ansuz

As I said earlier, this is about the challenge, the blockage, the shadow we face. Ansuz, which I probably could have predicted, is a block in communication — or the trust to speak what is divine. It can point to doubting my intuition, or feeling unheard in the past, or perhaps a fear that my words won't land. But, with Gebo as my blood, and Dagaz as my root — then I am a bringer of clear, sacred voice. This wound may simply be the veil before my rising.

🍎 The Offering – Thurisaz

This gives guidance on what I may do to honour my ancestors and make a bond with them to allow this energy to flow freely. Thurisaz is clear — the gift my ancestors ask for is my courage to shake things up. I must step out of comfort and pierce the veil. My ancestors want action — not for the sake of violence, but for piercing the stagnation. Make my move, speak my truth. It may be uncomfortable (Thurisaz is often seen as a thorn, an unexpected shock or pain), but it is blessed.

🌅 The Becoming – Ehwaz Reversed, Clarified by Nauthiz

This is the self when my primal energy is fully embodied. I now know that I am the bringer of change, but from a softer approach — disruptive, but compassionate. A reversed Ehwaz could be strange, but it refers to movement. This could be interpreted as a blockage or getting stuck. But, looking at the wider reading here, a reversal suggests completion. The horse (Ehwaz’s translation) no longer needs to run, because the journey has ended. I am where I am meant to be. I then clarified this with Nauthiz which confirms that I already have all I need. There is no need to grasp anymore.

I Am the Storm and the Sunrise

Uruz has appeared a lot for me, and now I see why. I have a primal energy that needs to be unlocked. Something that has been with me for a long time. But it is not in the untamed, destructive way. I am the roots that break stone. The gift that shifts timelines. The sunrise that ends the storm. My power is not to shout into the void, but to sing a new world into being. I am not the noise — I am the signal.

This has particular interest to me. Through a lot of my rune readings regarding personal development linked to this business, there has been the theme of Uruz, but also Thurisaz and Hagalaz. It has been very clear that I will be a disruptor.

These connections, particularly Hagalaz, reminded me of a quote:
“The devil whispered: You cannot withstand the storm, and I replied: I am the storm.”

What has become clear to me, through the rune readings and my calling and connection is that — I am the storm.

The Evolution of Identity

With this latest development in my growth, however, it made me see this differently. Perhaps, I am the storm, is not the end place, not the overarching theme. That, I am the storm is perhaps a part of my journey. And so, my identity has started to evolve into:

I am the storm – The Awakening Identity

This was the initiation. The moment I realised I wouldn’t be passive. That I had power. That I could face down resistance, injustice, suffering — and not be washed away. This was an Uruz energy for me, as the wild bull — fierce, uncontainable, vital. It taught me how to rise, how to push, how to survive. I needed that phase. It carved my strength.

🌄 I am the sunrise after the storm – The Healed Identity

This is where my ancestors are inviting me now. A deeper embodiment. I am still the storm — but I am also the calm it leaves behind. The stillness. The clarity. The soft golden light that says it is over now. Sometimes transformation isn’t always loud, think sunrise. Sometimes it’s a quiet breath at dawn, where everything changes and nothing breaks. This doesn’t weaken the storm — it transcends it.

🌌 Integration – I am the storm and the dawn

This is the new mantra. Because yes — I am the force that awakens. But I am also the peace that follows. I am not here to perpetuate the storm. I am here to end its cycle. To be the first in my lineage that says:
It stops with me. I become light.
