Cacao - A Bridge Between You and Earth
What is Cacao?
Cacao is more than chocolate. It is a sacred plant medicine used for thousands of years in Central and South America to open the heart, connect with Spirit, and deepen inner listening. In ceremony, cacao helps us soften into ourselves. It invites us to be fully present, gently illuminating what needs healing or expressing.
Cacao is not psychoactive, but it is profoundly powerful. It supports meditation, emotional release, connection, and joy.
My Connection Cacao?
My relationship with cacao is ancient. I believe I’ve worked with this plant across many lifetimes, particularly through lineages in Central and South America. In this life, I’ve answered the call to work with cacao as a sacred ally—always with deep respect, proper sourcing, and intentional ceremony.
I was then called to train in facilitating with cacao, which has ultimately led me to source and supply my own brand of cacao - Earth Connection Cacao.
How I Work With Cacao
I am conscious as to whether I class my work as ceremonies. I perhaps would call it rituals. I believe that cacao works on a very personal level. I inspire the people that attend my sessions to work with cacao 1:1 and build it into their day or life as they see fit. But I am very conscious not to suggest overconsumption of it. I want cacao to have a purpose and to be around for a long time. I do not drink it daily, nor do I recommend that be the case. If cacao calls you to work with it daily through a struggle, that is a purpose. But if we are not mindfully consuming it, we are more than likely missing the message.
I hold space for cacao in groups or 1:1. My approach is very unique and, as with all my work, is a blend of my past life experience and my current life existence. You will still get the Northern England male through your experience of cacao.
Our sessions typically involve:
Opening the circle and calling in the directions.
An explanation of the cacao, the recipe and the theme.
Some breathwork or contemplation.
A shamanic drumming journey.
An immersive meditation.
A chance to share before we close.

Important Considerations
Cacao is a beautiful heart-opening plant ally, but like all medicines from the Earth, she asks to be approached with respect and awareness. Please take a moment to read the following so you can journey safely and with intention.

Antidepressants (SSRIs & MAOIs): Cacao works gently on the emotional body but can interact with certain medications. If you're taking antidepressants, especially MAOIs or SSRIs, please speak to your doctor before joining a ceremony or consuming ceremonial cacao.
Heart Conditions & High Blood Pressure: The theobromine in cacao increases blood flow and heart rate. If you have any cardiovascular concerns, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional beforehand.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Many mothers feel called to cacao during this sacred time. A gentle dose may be safe, but always check with your midwife or doctor to be sure.
Mental Health Sensitivities: Cacao can stir the waters of the emotional body. If you're moving through mental health challenges, let your facilitator know so the space can hold you with the care you need.

Cacao contains theobromine, a natural compound similar to caffeine. If you’re sensitive to stimulants, you might feel jittery or find it hard to sleep. A smaller dose or daytime ceremony might be best for you.

Cacao is not psychedelic, but she does open the heart and connect us more deeply with what’s inside. This can bring emotion to the surface. If you're in a time of emotional vulnerability, make sure you're supported and held—either by the ceremony space or by yourself.

Cacao is often blended with water, plant milks, and spices like cinnamon, cayenne, or vanilla. If you have any dietary needs, allergies, or preferences, please share them with your facilitator so your experience can be nourishing and safe.
